The first snow!

Hi everybody! During the night to today there was a little snowstorm and today I was outside, taking photos of the snow. I was a little disappointed that the snow already had started to melt. You can see that in the photo with the house, snow is missing form the roof and other places. But I do enjoy the fact that it's snow outside, it makes everything lighter and nicer in general.

I have some ideas of posts coming up and I'm currently working on them. One of these posts is a longer post with some of the best photos from each month this year. It's taking some time to put together but it's going to be posted next week, before new years.

Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone! In today's post I just wanted to wish everyone of you readers Merry Christmas. I know this is posted on the 24th, but that is because we in Sweden celebrate Christmas on the 24th and not the 25th December. So, maybe a bit early, but happy holidays. I hope you get more snow than me - I don't get any at all, it's raining - and if not snow some other nice weather.

I just wanted to share these few photos of our Christmas tree. Maja and the other cats really like the tree. They have been taking turns, sleeping under it for hours. I didn't really like the color of these photos, it was a bit too much, so I made it sepia/black and white. Maybe I will post some photos of the tree in color another day. And yes, it is a real tree that you have to water and that smells like outdoors.

Christmas candy!

Hi everyone! It's soon Christmas and today I wanted to share with you, some of my favorite Christmas candy. This is all home made and delicious. I really can't get enough of it. And if you want to see more of Christmas candy I recommend you to check out this post about fudge and last years post about Christmas treats.

Now, moving on to what you can see in the photos. It's my mum's saffron truffle with white chocolate that can be seen as yellow balls coated in coconut sprinkles. The chocolate thing in shiny metal cases, in green, yellow and silver, are ice chocolate with a hazelnut. And last but not least, in the purple cases there is a toffee caramel with chopped almonds.

 

Just Maja

Hi everyone! I have seen that my book review got more views than the average post, so I take it you like them? Anyway, whether you like the posts or not they get a good amount of views and I enjoy doing them, so I will continue reading and reviewing. I'm also thinking about making a post with a list of books I want to read in 2016. At the moment, I'm also working on a post that will sum up 2016 in photos.

Today's photo is just this little photo of Maja. I don't really have many photos to post because it's so boring outside and dark all day long. But still, I wanted to post something little just to keep you updated, so you get this photo of Maja!

Fudge!

Hi readers! Some of you might remember a post I made last December, it's called Christmas treats and in that post I show you photos of toffee, chocolate fudge and fudge rolled in mixed nuts. I absolutley love fudge, toffee and other Christmas candy, so of course I made fudge this year too.

I took quite a few photos of the fudge, but upon selecting the photos I wanted to post I realized that all photos looked the same. All of the photos were taken from the same angle. Because of that, it's only one of those photos today. The fudge in the photo is the one that is rolled in nuts, this year it's chopped almonds. But I did link to last years post, so go and check that one out too! And don't forget to click on the photos to see a bigger version of them.

Six women - six lives

The book starts of with the main charachter, Akhila, buying a train ticket. She ends up in a ladies coupe with five other women. During the trip they tell each other about their lives, from childhood to how they got on the train. You get to follow all these different womens' lives, each life is a new chapter. Between the other five womens' chapters you also get chapters with Akhila's life.

Since Akhila is the main character she has more chapters, probably so that you can get to know her better, but it took me to about half of the book until I could feel that Akhila was the main character at all. I got the feeling her life could've been just as short as the other womens'. To me, Akhila didn't feel very special or more "right" as a main character since all the women are so unique.

Unique but still the same

Anita Nair have in this book created six completely unique, different women. You don't get tired of the book or the chapters since every life is so different from the other. But they all have one thing in common: all of them somehow disagree with the tradition that all women need a man. Even if some of them are married, happily or unhappily, or not, they all stand by the fact that a woman don't need a man.

In their lives you can see how all of them, at one point or another, in their own, special way, come to realize this. That is also, at least to me, the red thread of this book.

Final thoughts

It's a lovely book. I find it very interesting and exciting that Anita Nair never made me feel tired of reading about another life. Every life is a short novel in itself almost. The only thing I do think is unnecessary is Akhila. As I said before, all lives are unique so I don't understand why Akhila is the main character. Her life just feels drawn out to make the book longer almost. In the last chapter, I just feel like what had been done over several chapters might just as well have been said in a couple.

It almost feels confusing and a bit wrong to even have a main character in this kind of book. The red thread - a woman don't need a man to be complete - is enough for me.

Still, I really recommend this book. You get a good reading experiense out of it even if Akhila at times can feel a bit long winded. 4/5 stars!

Autumn weather in December

Hi everybody! I know that the photos might not be great or super interesting right now, but it's nothing fun outside - or inside - since everything is so grey and boring. Cloudy, rainy and windy. Nothing else. I go outside and around the house, looking for things but the lighting is so bad after 3PM and I'm not even home for school at that time. Not even the cats like it outside, they are inside all day and sleep, eat and play with each other. It's only Tigra that still spend most of her days outside.

I've finally finished a book, it was so long since last time I did that! A review is coming up this weekend hopefully, they take some time to write. I don't want to just throw some words together and call it a review, because then that whole post is going to be pointless.

Christmas fair in the storm

Hello readers! Today's post was going to be about the yearly Christmas fair. I go to it every year in December and even though it might be a bit cold, I always have a good time. This year I wanted to bring my camera and take some photos, maybe buy a candied apple or something like that. But as you may or may not know, there has been more than one storm coming in over Sweden's west coast. It has been very rainy with strong winds since Friday, and it still is.

Because of that the Christmas fair was almost canceled this year. Sure, it might have been a few fairy lights here and there but nothing much at all. The only thing you could buy was hot dogs and lottery tickets. Not a lot of people was outside either, so I didn't get any good photos. But because I really wanted to post something today I decided to pick out the okay photos, so here they are. I didn't expect the storms to be so strong, canceling the Christmas fair.

It's December!

Hi everybody! I know it was the first December when I posted last time, but I really didn't think much of it then. But after I published the post I realized that it actually was December, but at that time I think it was a bit too late to make another post that day.

If you remember me talking about a s'mores pie, I'm sorry to say that all of the pie is already eaten and the photos turned out terrible. The last days, and the whole week actually, has been rainy, cloudy and dark. This weather makes the lighting weird, it's like late evening light all day until it starts to get dark. All my effort to take good photos of the pie was pretty pointless, the lighting gave me horrible shadows that I really didn't like and it made everything look grey and boring, I didn't like it. So no post about that pie.

The weather was just as bad today, so that's the reason to why I'm just posting this older photo. I can't remember if I've posted it before or not. If I remember correctly I've just posted a similar photo to this one, but I'm not quite sure.

Frost leaves and more

Hi readers! Today I'm going to post a few more photos of the frost. It's not loads of schoolwork right now so I'm having a bit more time over to do blogging and things in general. Today I baked a s'mores pie that I probably will post about later this week. I haven't read much at all and it makes me a bit sad because I really want to post a book review but I haven't finished a novel in such a long time. On the other hand, I've started reading about three books and now I can't finish anyone of them.

I hope you enjoy todays photos! Personally I like the snow and frost and I'm hoping that it's going to be a very snowy winter this year. Last year had so little snow so I'm hoping for this year to be better!

Midnight snow

Hello readers! I wasn't thinking of posting this until tomorrow since it's a bit late and I'm going to bed but I really wanted to post something. It's snowing outside right now, the snow is very wet but it still looks white and pretty. The wind is also strong so it's almost like a mini snowstorm. I did take a photo of it from the window. Now, I know it isn't in focus but that's kind of the point with this one. I didn't want it to be very sharp, all i wanted to show was the lights really. So I'm happy with this photo.

The other photos is from earlier this week, once again during the earlier hours of the day when it was still a bit of frost left. I'm planning on taking more of these photos, even if it's too dark to do it before school and too warm after school. I was hoping to get some good photos this weekend but it wasn't any frost when I looked forward to it the most!

A summer memory #11

Hello there! It's already part 11 in my summer memory series, I can't believe that it happened so fast. I mean, don't get me wrong here, I love making these posts more then anything because I love summer. These dark autumns make me feel so tired, like I just want to hibernate from 1st September to 24th December every year. Especially when it's no snow, only dead, brown, boring leaves. If that wasn't enough the leaves are slippery too. In movies they shouldn't slip on banana peels, they should slip on wet leaves.

Enough complaining, moving on to the photos!

Morning frost

Hello everybody! This weekend, starting from Friday, has been cold with the first temperatures below zero for this winter. Because of that it's been frost every morning. Yesterday I was up pretty early, early enough to be able to get some photos of the frost at least. I did the editing of some photos yesterday but then I totally disappeared into the book I'm currently reading and forgot about posting.

Today I've been with a friend and I didn't wake up as early, but here I am, posting about the morning frost. Hopefully it will be a little bit more frost some other day, so that I can get more photos. Or maybe it would even snow a little? I don't think it will come any snow soon, maybe in late December or January but I wish it would.

Adorable Tigra!

Hello everyone! As previosly promised, here is a post with Tigra. I said I would try and make a cat post soon, and here it is! At first I thought of taking photos of her outside or something like that, but she was so adorable when she was sleeping in my bed. Or maybe she was just almost sleeping, because her eyes were a bit open and she was purring.

I haven't done anything productive at all this weekend, but that was exactly what I wanted. This Thursday I was just so tired and looking forward do hibernate through this weekend, and I almost did that except for a trip to the stable on Saturday. It was really nice to just be home with the cats and I had a good time.

Almost Friday...

Hello readers! I'm so tired this week, I don't know why really. It's a lot of tests the upcoming weeks so it might be because of that. I just hope that I'm not about to catch a cold or anything like that, it would be a horrible timing. But it's almost Friday and I'm looking forward to the weekend and just doing nothing at all. I'm probably going to spend this whole weekend in bed, on Instagram with the cats.

Speaking of cats, it's been some time since I posted anything about them at all. Or I guess I have done some posts with Maja, but Tigra and Sessan was a while ago. I know people usually appreciate the cat posts so I'm going to try and put something good together, hopefully this weekend or next week.

Cookies topped with raspberry jam

Hi everyone! Today is the baking post I previously talked about. This is cookies topped with a little dot of raspberry jam. I made them yesterday but didn't have enough daylight left to get any good photos so I took the photos today to be able to blog about it. Not wanting to sound selfish I really think these one's turned out good, the cookie was not too dry and the raspberry jam got a little sticky in the oven. Some cookies did get a bit too little jam because I started to worry that I put too much on the first cookies so the last cookies that I made might should have had a bit more of the jam. Otherwise I think these cookies turned out tasty!

Ingredients

2 cups flour
½ cup castersugar
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
200g butter

raspberry jam (or any jam you would like)

How to do

Oven: 200°C

1. Mix all the ingredients thorougher until it has the texture of pie dough or so that you can form it.

2. Roll out the cookie dough in a sausage shape until it is about four centimeters in diameter. You might want to use a little bit of flour so that the dough don't stick to your hands/surface.

3. Cut the sausage in slices and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

4. Using your finder, make a little pocket in the center of each cookie. Then fill up the pocket with a bit of raspberry jam.

5. Bake in the oven for 10 min.

A summer memory #10

Hi there! I'm back with another summer memory. This one is about daylilies. I made a post this summer whit a bunch of photos of white daylilies. This memory is with both a white one and a brown/orange. My mum took some of these photos, I really can't remember which ones though. It had been raining all day and when it finally stopped for a while I and her went outside.

That day I thought it was autumn-like weather but when I think back about it now I reallies that wasn't the case. It was just a rainy summer day. I didn't even wear shoes, just shorts and a t-shirt. The air was warm and it wasn't too rainy.

Trees and leaves

Hello readers! Today I just want to share these late autumn photos with all of you. I like the colours even if today's photos contain more yellow than the pretty red colour of the leaves from previous posts. But I still like these photos. I had a really hard time deciding on what photo I wanted to post on instagram. Maybe you will see both photos there in the end, I feel like both are equally nice.

Today I finally went to the stables, it's been a month since last time because I always seemed to get sick or not feeling well the whole month of October. It was really fun to go back again and I'm already looking forward to next Saturday. Tomorrow or Monday might also be a baking post. I'm probably going to do some baking tomorrow so depending on when I am done I'm going to take some photos and post it.

Sticky cake with mint chocolate

Hi readers! I totally missed Halloween, but now it's a little too late for any kind of Halloween related post, don't you think? But it's a new Eat and recipes post so that's always great. This time it's sticky cake with mint chocolate that my mum did today. She also made this with a spiderwebb on top for Halloween but those where gone before I could take a photo of them.

Today she made a new batch and here they are! I took these photos in the last sunlight of the day, it wasn't much sunlight since today was a very cloudy day with some drizzling rain. But the little light was just enough to get these photos, I hope you like them.
